New CSE Website
The CSE website has been redesigned and reimplemented
Bill and I have been working on a new CSE website. We kicked around many ideas and listened to input from Faculty and others on campus regarding content, design, campus standards, and internet standards. We have recently completed migrating content on the old website to the new website. This is a considerable upgrade and has taken a few weeks to complete. A few of the improvements are listed below.
- Upgraded Server Software Plone 2.5/Zope 2.9/Apache 2.0.55
- Migrated to a Ubuntu Virtual Host (using XEN)
- Rebuilt the entire website
- Reorganized content into logical sections
- Fixed many missing links and poorly coded HTML
- Updated design to a campus standard site+
- Linked user logins to Campus Kerberos Accounts (and CAS)
- Fixed RSS feeds and Search abilities
- Meets campus web standards on accessibility++
- Meets internet XHTML standards++
Please take a look at the new site and let us know what you think. We've enabled discussions on this page so you can log in and put your comments/concerns on the website itself.
+ This design is not a requirement and we can modify the design in any way
++ Accessibility and XHTML validation is always an ongoing issue but we are on the right track.
