How do I get a CSE email account?
If you would like a CSE email account, please contact technical support and include your full name, preferred email address, affiliation with CSE and your current CSE username, if you already have one.
How do I set up an automated vacation message?
Since the installation of our new mail server we only support this on a per request basis. If you are planning on taking a vacation and would like an autoresponder set up please contact technical support and give us the date range, and the message you would like sent automatically. We hope to set up a way to do this automatically as time allows.
How do I forward mail from my CSE account to another email account?
We do allow email forwards at CSE. Unfortunately we do not currently support store and forwards. So if you enable forwarding email then the message is never permanently stored on our server. To enable forwarding please contact technical support and be sure to give your CSE email and the email you would like us to forward it to.
How do I forward mail from my ucdavis email account to my cse email account?
You can forward email sent to your campus account to the CSE email server. The campus has a web interface at UC Davis Computing Account Services for forwarding email.
How do I configure my email client?
For incoming mail, your mail client should be set to the IMAPs/POP3s server: mail.cse.ucdavis.edu Whether you use POP3 or IMAP we require that you enable SSL.
For outgoing mail, your mail client should be set to the SMTP server: mail.cse.ucdavis.edu TLS should be enabled and Authenticated SMTP should be enabled, using the same username as for incoming mail.
Is CSE email scanned for viruses/spam?
Yes, email is scanned both for viruses and spam at both the campus level and on CSE's mail server. Our virus definitions are constantly updated and we train our spam filters regularly.
What mailing lists are available at CSE?
To view the email lists available at CSE please see our email list server. If you would like to create a new list please contact technical support and provide the mailing list owner, the name of the list, and a short description.
